2020 - 2023 COACHES
Pete DeTore / Andrew Petroulias / Connor Miller
Coach DeTore is a 2010 graduate of Westhampton Beach High School. He is one of the most successful wrestlers to ever come through the program and the only Hurricane to be a 4 time all-county wrestler. Pete was an all state wrestler in 2009 and a Greco Roman and Freestyle State Champion that same year. A 2 year Hurricane team Captain, Pete went on to wrestle for Division I Hofstra for a year. Coach DeTore was on the coaching staff, but is now a full-time student and wrestler at LIU Post. Coach DeTore has been a volunteer coach at WHB in previous years.
Coach Petroulias is a 2010 graduate of Westhampton Beach High School. He started wrestling late in his High School career and was behind 2 all-state wrestlers on the depth chart. Undeterred, he placed in numerous tournaments as a 2nd man. His love of wrestling continued to grow and he participated in all of the off season activities after he graduated. Andrew attended Gettysburg College and wrestled at the collegiate level. He continued improving as a wrestler and eventually started for the Bullets. He recently graduated with the Class of 2014 with a degree in economics and is currently working in the Banking Industry. Coach Petroulias has been a volunteer coach at WHB in previous years.
Coach Miller was a 5 year varsity and 3-time all-league wrestler for the East Hampton Bonackers. Connor graduated in 2007 and attended and wrestled at Roger Williams University. Coach Miller is recently married, lives in East Quogue, and works as a private strength and conditioning coach. Coach Miller was previously the WHB middle school wresting coach.

Coach Scholz is a 1999 graduate of Smithtown High School. He was a four year varsity starter and earned All League and All County honors his senior year. He coached at Smithtown H.S.West from 2003-2009 at the J.V. level. He coached the J.V. Wrestling team at Sachem North H.S from 2009-2013. He was the Head wrestling coach at Half Hollow Hills West H.S. from 2013-2018.
Middle School Coach - Sean O'Hagen
Coach O'Hagen is a 2014 graduate of Sachem North High School. He has 3x earned All-County, and senior year was an All-State performer for Sachem North High School. After high school attended SUNY Brockport and wrestled there for four years. He graduated SUNY Brockport with a degree in sports management and a coaching minor. He was a Volunteer coach for Brockport high school for the 2018-19 Wrestling season.

Volunteer Coach - Ronan Seltenreich
Coach Seltenreich is a 2011 graduate of Westhampton Beach and was an all-county performer for the Hurricanes his senior year. Ronan joined the Army after graduation and served 2 combat tours in Afghanistan before returning home as a decorated combat veteran. Coach Seltenreich attended the Suffolk County Police Academy in late 2015 and is a Police Officer in the village of Quogue. Coach Ronan Seltenreich has been a volunteer coach at WHB in previous years.
2018 - 2019 COACHES
Head Varsity Coach - Paul Bass
Coach Bass is a 1978 graduate of Westhampton Beach High School. During his senior year he was the Suffolk County Wrestling Champion at 155 pounds. He went on to wrestle for Division I Bloomsburg State College in Pennsylvania and graduated in 1982. Paul started coaching at William Floyd High School and then In 1984, returned to Westhampton Beach as the Assistant Wrestling Coach. Coach Bass became the Head Coach of the Hurricanes three years later in 1987. Coach Bass has been coaching for 37 years, 35 in the Westhampton Beach District, and 32 as the head coach. During that time, Coach Bass has built Westhampton Beach’s Wrestling Program into one which consistently competes at a high level. He is one of only 7 coaches in Suffolk County history to accumulate over 300 wins. He’s only had 2 losing seasons in the last 22 years. He has received “Coach of the Year” honors 6 times in four different decades and his program has produced over 200 All-League wrestlers, 47 All-County Wrestlers, 6 County Champions, 11 State Qualifiers, 6 All-State wrestlers, and 1 All-American wrestler.
“Our main objective is to help mold and make young men, something larger than just points on a scoreboard. Wrestling teaches you about life in so many ways; it teaches you dedication, builds confidence, teaches you how to compete and gives you the tools to deal with what life is really all about, dealing with adversity.” Paul was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in April 2015.

Junior Varsity Coach - Ethan Mitchell
Coach Mitchel is a 2008 graduate of Westhampton Beach High School and wrestled at Western New England College before transferring to SUNY Oswego where he graduated in 2013 with a Mathematics degree. He is entering his 6th year as a coaching in the program, and 4th year as Junior Varsity coach. Coach Mitchell is also in charge of the kid wrestling program and brings a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective to our wrestlers.

Volunteer Coach - Paul DiLandro
Coach DiLandro is a 2008 graduate of Westhampton Beach High School. Paul was a 2-time All County Wrestler (2nd and 4th), and a state qualifier for the Hurricanes in his senior year. Paul was also an All-County Football and Lacrosse player. Paul's work ethic and intensity are legendary in the WHB athletic environment. After graduation, Paul attended RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) just outside of Troy, NY where he continued his athletic career playing on and ultimately being named captain of the Lacrosse team. He graduated with an engineering degree in 2012. After a brief two year stint living and working in Connecticut, Paul is back on Long Island working in the engineering field.
